After severe weather triggered rockfall risk along Rocks Road, Nelson, Safe Hire Ltd delivered a fast, effective safety solution.
Following a recent severe weather event in the Nelson/Tasman region, heavy rainfall triggered debris and rockfall from the cliff face above Rocks Road (SH6), creating a serious safety risk for road users and the public. The instability of the slope initially required road closures while authorities assessed and managed the hazard.
Safe Hire Ltd was engaged to provide an immediate, practical safety solution to help protect the site and minimise disruption. Our team supplied and installed the combination of temporary fencing and water-filled safety barriers were along the roadway to help manage the risk of falling debris and provide a physical separation between live traffic and the hazard zone.
These temporary measures played a key role in enabling authorities to safely reopen Rocks Road in both directions, maintaining critical access while longer-term remediation work continues. By creating a controlled and protected environment, this has significantly helped reduce traffic delays and improved safety.
At Safe Hire, we’re proud to support communities with rapid, reliable temporary safety infrastructure when it matters most.
